Questions & Answers
  • Can we install an LCD or Plasma big screen where there is some exposure to the weather?
No problem. Vangis have available large screen units especially designed to be weather resistant  or weather proof. We have found this particularly useful for clients creating outside leisure areas and signage.

  • Can we use our Data Projectors for distributing information around our organisation on a 24/7 basis?
If you use selected DLP technology Projectors then you should find no problem.

  • What’s best – LCD or Plasma big screens?
It all depends upon your application.

The latest Plasma Screens are mostly HD ready and generally viewing angles are superior to LCD Screens. The larger Plasma Screens, compared to similar LCD sizes, are usually lower priced. Plasma Screens are more susceptible to screen burn-in, slightly heavier making installation more difficult and Plasma units consume more power.

LCD Screens are offered in a wider range of sizes and are now generally HD ready.
Right now, and speaking in general rather than for specific purposes, we believe that up to 37” screen size then think LCD. Over 37” consider Plasma. In the long term, with LCD quality constantly improving, with faster response and increasingly price competitive,  it is our opinion  Plasma will eventually become obsolete.

  • I read about products being HD ready. What is HD and do we need it?
We won’t get technical. It’s all about the quality of TV image and that is not necessarily of great importance in most commercial audio visual applications unless the monitor is primarily used as a television.

HDtv stands for High Definition and with it TV pictures look much sharper and clearer. Colours are richer and the image appears to have more depth as if you were looking out of a window into ‘real life’.

HDtv is broadcast in widescreen and it’s extra bandwidth can carry surround sound for breathtaking audio results.

Having an HD ready Television or Monitor, whether an 1080HD or 720HD model, is not enough on it’s own. (Incidentally, the 1080HD gives a better HD result.)
You also require an HD signal and, for example, these are already being provided via the Sky HD service.
